Engagement sessions announced for proposed Northside Community Recreation Centre

The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) is pleased to invite the community to participate in a series of engagement sessions and an online survey regarding the proposed Northside Community Recreation Centre. This series is the third round of community engagement regarding the proposed recreation centre at Abrams Land in Fort McMurray, following two rounds of engagement sessions and two online surveys completed in 2013.

Trooper to headline entertainment at Anzac Recreation Centre grand opening

The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) is pleased to announce Canadian rock legends Trooper presented by 100.5 Cruz FM as the headline entertainment for the grand opening celebrations for the new Anzac Recreation Centre presented by Nexen Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of CNOOC Ltd.

The grand opening takes place May 2-4 with Trooper taking the stage at the Anzac Recreation Centre Field House on Friday, May 2.

Anzac Recreation Centre ribbon cutting ceremony postponed until March 8

(Fort McMurray, AB, February 26, 2014) – The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) would like to inform the community it is postponing the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Anzac Recreation Centre until Saturday, March 8 at Noon. The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 1.

The doors to the Anzac Recreation Centre will now open for recreational and community use on Monday, March 3 at Noon as per regular facility operating hours.

More than $2.5 million in new partnerships celebrated at State of the Island

It was a special evening at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre on Saturday night as the region celebrated MacDonald Island Park’s signature ‘orange’ and more than $2.5 million in new partnerships at State of the Island, MacDonald Island Park’s annual black tie gala.

The Nexen Field House and the newly-named Nexen Activity Field House took centre stage at State of the Island, as CNOOC Limited and its wholly-owned subsidiary Nexen Energy ULC delivered four major multi-year partnership announcements before an audience of more than 700 invited guests.
