Kirschner Family Community Art Gallery welcomes “Rise” exhibition from local artist Sonia Burke-Smith

(Fort McMurray – October 12, 2022) – The Kirschner Family Community Art Gallery at MacDonald Island Park is pleased to welcome Rise, a solo exhibition from local artist Sonia Burke-Smith.

"The work in this show is all about the journey of healing after losing all my work to the fire. The inspiration for the show was to tell that story. There is a lot of new work but there are also a couple of pieces from the past to complete the story," says Burke-Smith of the inspiration behind the exhibition and the pieces on display. Burke-Smith lost a significant portion of her artistic works in the 2016 Horse River Wildfire.

Rise is now available for viewing at the Kirschner Family Community Art Gallery at MacDonald Island Park. The exhibition will be on display until November 6, 2022.
