Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo to Host Syncrude Mi Summer Camps
(Fort McMurray, June 19, 2020) - The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) is pleased to share that Syncrude Mi Summer Camps will once again be offered at both MacDonald Island Park and Anzac Recreation Centre presented by CNOOC for the 2020 summer season.
From July 6 – August 28, Syncrude Mi Summer Camps will provide opportunities for kids in the Wood Buffalo Region aged 5-12 to participate in fun and inclusive camp experiences. Campers can choose from weekly day camps focused on adventure, expression and positive learning through creativity and play.
Given operational and public health guidelines in place for recreation centres, the RRC has developed and implemented new risk reduction plans for the safe operations of summer camps this year. Guests can expect to see adjustments to camp capacities and programming plans, as well as the introduction of new preventative safety measures.
“Syncrude Mi Summer Camps provide recreation opportunities that are packed with structured activities, physical play and also support much needed social connections for kids in our community,” says Graig Walsh, CEO. “The RRC has been working with industry partners and health authorities to design camp options that will continue to support the great experiences that kids in our region enjoy, while keeping health and safety as a top priority. With these new resources and practices in place, we are pleased to once again offer safe and fun camp activities throughout the summer months.”
Thanks to the continued support of Syncrude, 2020 Syncrude Mi Summer Camps will be available to the community with reduced registration fees.
"We are pleased to support opportunities for children in the region to enjoy the programming offered this summer by the RRC,” says Kara Flynn, VP Government & Public Affairs, Syncrude. “I’m sure kids -- and their parents -- will enjoy getting out of the house to enjoy safe and fun activities at these facilities.”
Registration for Syncrude Mi Summer Camps will be available on June 23 at macdonaldisland.ca/camps or at Guest Services at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre and the Anzac Recreation Centre presented by CNOOC. Campers can register up to two weeks in advance.
