Miskanaw Golf Club set to open Legacy Dodge Driving Range and 9 holes of the course in alignment with the Government of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy
(Fort McMurray, May 5, 2020) - In alignment with the Government of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy, Miskanaw Golf Club is pleased to announce that the Legacy Dodge Driving Range will open on Saturday, May 9, followed by 9 holes of the Miskanaw Golf Course on Friday, May 22.
“We are pleased to be able to welcome our members and guests back to Miskanaw Golf Club and we look forward to seeing familiar faces returning to the club to enjoy some fresh air and golf,” says Jason Vaughan, Director of Golf. “Heading into the season our team is working hard to restore conditions on the course and prepare our facilities for re-opening as soon as possible. We will continue to provide updates as they are available.”
Miskanaw Golf Club experienced substantial damage to the course and surrounding structures including the Sly Fox Pro Shop and Fox Den Grill and Patio due to the 2020 spring river break-up flooding in the lower townsite of Fort McMurray.
“The team is implementing all relevant COVID-19 protocols and recommendations as set out by the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Services,” says Vaughan. “Some of these protocols include extensive cleaning measures taken around the course, on surfaces and on equipment. Guests can also anticipate 6 foot spacing between the hitting stalls, pre-booking will be required for all visits to the course including the Legacy Dodge Driving Range and there will be a reduced capacity of 50%.”
Golfers can start booking Tee Times on May 14 for the May 22 reopening of 9-holes. Miskanaw Golf Club 2020 Memberships will be reduced by 40% to better reflect the services the club is able to provide at this time. Members who have already purchased a membership for 2020 will be contacted and provided options for a refund or club credit.
