Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo Welcomes New Board Chair

(Fort McMurray, AB – April 26, 2023) - The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Chris Pirie as the new RRC Board Chair.

At the most recent meeting of the RRC Board of Directors, the Board elected Mr. Pirie as RRC Board Chair and Justin Ellis as RRC Board Vice-Chair. RRC CEO Graig Walsh was appointed RRC Board Secretary.

“It is genuinely an honour to serve the Wood Buffalo region as part of the RRC Board of Directors,” said Chris Pirie, RRC Board Chair. “I want to thank Chantal Beaver for her leadership as our Board Chair over the past several years, particularly during the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. I am excited to continue to work with the RRC Board of Directors and the RRC team as we seek to deliver our vision: Together we create community.”

Mr. Pirie has served on the RRC Board since 2016. Ms. Beaver will continue to serve on the RRC Board until the expiration of her term at the end of 2023.

RRC Board Vice-Chair Justin Ellis said: “I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve as Vice-Chair. Our Board is proud to serve our region, and through collaboration and a commitment to achieving our vision and priorities, we continue to make progress on our mission to inspire Wood Buffalo to gather, play and connect.”

The RRC Board of Directors consists of nine volunteer community members as well as two Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Councillors:
