RRC announces amenity partnership with Legacy Dodge Fort McMurray
(Fort McMurray, August 7, 2019) At a press conference on August 6, 2019, the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) in partnership with Legacy Dodge Fort McMurray unveiled the Legacy Dodge Field located at Shell Place. The amenity partnership is a five-year agreement between the two organizations for the naming rights associated with the baseball field located at Shell Place.
“Being partnered with an integral part of the community like Macdonald Island Park is of paramount importance to us at Legacy Dodge,” says Mike Brown, General Manager of Legacy Dodge Fort McMurray. “The new Legacy Dodge Field is another great example of how this world class facility is making our community a better place for the families of Fort McMurray and that is exactly the same vision that we have at Legacy Dodge.”
Home of the Fort McMurray Giants, our community’s Western Major Baseball League team, the Legacy Dodge Field is a modern baseball diamond in a scenic location. The Legacy Dodge Field is a highlight venue and can be found hosting tournaments like the Baseball Canada Cup and can also be transformed to host events like the 2018 Wood Buffalo Alberta Winter Games Opening Ceremonies.
“Associating a community partner like Legacy Dodge to this very popular amenity is a major win for the region and highlights the continued support of sport and recreation,” said Graig Walsh, RRC CEO. “The RRC is honoured to unveil the Legacy Dodge Field and welcome the public and many visitors to this state-of-the-art facility under its new name as it continues to act as a venue where fun is celebrated and memories are made.”
In August 2020, the Legacy Dodge Field is set to welcome the 2020 Baseball Canada Cup and host athletes from across the country.
In correlation with the partnership, the Wood Buffalo (WB) Kids Program will receive $12,500 in monetary contributions to ensure every kid can afford to have fun. The WB Kids Program provides financial assistance to support Wood Buffalo youth and families that face barriers to participation in sport, recreation, social and cultural programs and activities.
