MacDonald Island Park hosting two days of free family fun for Canada Day 2024
Fort McMurray, June 5, 2024) – The Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo community is invited to MacDonald Island Park on June 30 and July 1 to participate in a variety of free activities to mark Canada Day. Events include a free family-friendly concert and the Syncrude Fireworks on June 30 followed by a day of free family-fun activities on July 1.
June 30 – Free concert and Syncrude Fireworks at SMS Equipment Stadium
On June 30, Canada Day activities will kick off with a free, family-friendly evening of live entertainment as SMS Equipment Stadium at Shell Place welcomes iconic Canadian performers 54-40 to the 100.5 Cruz FM Music Main Stage
Concession and beer sales will be available. No tickets are required to attend and the event is open to all community members for free.
The evening will conclude at 11:00 pm with the Canada Day Syncrude Fireworks. Suggested on-Island viewing for the fireworks is inside SMS Equipment Stadium.
July 1 (Canada Day) – Free Family-Fun Activities at SMS Equipment Stadium
On July 1, SMS Equipment Stadium will host the traditional free Canada Day family fun activities from Noon to 5:00 pm (following the Canada Day Parade).
Activities will include performances by Gabby’s Dollhouse Live Show on the Country 93.3 and 97.9 Rock Family Main Stage

Canada Day 2024 in Wood Buffalo is presented through collaboration between the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC), the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, and the Government of Canada.
